Place two full caps of vanilla extract in a coffee cup and place it in the oven.
Turn it up to 200 degrees and leave it for an hour.
The whole house will soon smell like freshly baked goods.

#12 Clean your iron with salt

Place a cotton cloth on your ironing board.
Put a couple of scoops of coarse salt on the cloth.
Plug in the iron and turn it up to the highest setting, but turn off the steam.
Place the iron's soleplate on the salt, pressing gently.
Grease and dirt will stick to the salt, leaving the soleplate sparkling.

#14 Clean and freshen your mattress and linens

Remove all bedding, including mattress covers and bed skirts.
Lift the mattress, dust and vacuum.
In a jar, mix one cup of baking soda and four drops of lavender oil (or an other favorite oil), close the lid and shake.
Sprinkle all over the mattress and let it sit for an hour.
Vacuum off and say goodbye to dust mites and yucky smells.

#15 Clean carpet stains with an iron and vinegar

Mix one part vinegar, to two parts water.
Spray this on the area that has a stain.
Place a damp rag over the spot.
Switch the iron to the steam setting and lay it on top for about 30 seconds.

#16 Steam helps clean the bathroom

If you really want to have a deep clean of the ol' bath room, this trick that's used all over the world by hotel cleaning staff will blow your mind.
Before you embark on your cleaning mission, plug the bath and run about two inches of piping hot (the hottest you can get) water into into it.
Then close the door for a minute or two.
